PEER GYNT/RSNO/avril 07

The times — Hilary Finch

A judiciously cut but ambitious semi-staging : Emmanuelle Cordoliani’s brilliantly multi-cast staging, everyone was playing everyone else. (…) quite a night had been had by all.

The Telegraph — Geoffrey Norris

A colourful contribution to the Grieg anniversary year with a dramatisation of Peer Gynt. Emmanuelle Cordoliani devised an eventful series of tableaux vivants, with actors costumed and in carnival masks. With the RSNO and Chorus performing characterfully under Stéphane Denève, the fusion of music and theatre was compelling.

The Herald – Conrad Wilson
Emmanuelle Cordoliani’s direction, following on her recent Pelleas and Melisande, drew cleverly on the work’s possibilities. (…) It was as enlightening a tribute to the Grieg centenary as possibly could be encountered.

The Gardian — Rowena Smith
Stage director Emmanuelle Cordoliani, who previously worked with the RSNO on a semi-staged version of Pelléas, presented Gynt as a fast-moving, high-energy romp, with a succession of masked RSAMD drama students in the title role.
